Intrada expande The Patriot de John Williams
La discográfica Intrada Records ha expandido la partitura del Maestro John Williams para la película dramática de aventuras y épica The Patriot (El Patriota, 2000), dirigida por Roland Emmerich y protagonizada por Mel Gibson, Tom Wilkinson, Jason Isaac, Heath Ledger, Tcheky Karyo, Chris Cooper y Rene Auberjonois.
Con el telón de fondo de la guerra de Independencia de los EE.UU. contra el Imperio Británico, allá por 1776, esta película nos narra la historia de Benjamin Martin, quien se ve de nuevo envuelto a combatir por su país tras haber renunciado previamente a ello para cuidar a su familia. Todo ello acabará desembocando en una lucha descarnada y dramática, de connotaciones épica, y con un villano, el coronel británico Tavington, que se acabará convirtiendo en su mayor enemigo.
Para esta ocasión, Emmerich no contó con su compositor fetiche, el gran David Arnold (quien seguro hubiera firmado un trabajo brillante), y en su lugar apareció el gran John Williams, quien mejor para ofrecernos un tema principal apabullante, heroico, solemne y épico que se convirtió en uno de sus mejores temas centrales del final de su carrera.
En cuanto al resto, circulamos por terrenos conocidos y dominados por el Maestro, desde los aspectos más dramáticos y emotivos hasta los más épicos o vibrantes, que ahora se ve expandida en una edición de tres discos, cuyos dos primeros son la partitura en su forma completa, que suma 107 minutazos, frente a los 72 minutos del album de la época (por cierto, recogido en el CD 3). También se acompañan de abundante material extra, desde material alternativo hasta source music.
Y todo ello al precio de 39,99$ y limitado mientras el interés y las copias duren, una edición 25 aniversario que hará vibrar a los acérrimos del Maestro. Caerá.
